Goals: Write and record an impartial broadcast script for the 2015 NCAA Men's National Championship game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Duke Blue Devils

Struggles: Ensuring the script was unbiased and conversational sounding 

Successes: The pace is steady and audio is clear

Takeaway: A huge challenge in sports is remaining calm and professional, especially when your team wins or loses 

Hockey Audio Story

Class: Journalism 335: Principles and Practices of Reporting

Goals: Pick a topic and find two individuals to interview that can provide valid insight 

Struggles: It was difficult to set up times for the interviews as we were all students with busy schedules

Successes: I was able to incorporate the limited number of quotes I had very well

Takeaway: Women in sports are most likely willing to help another woman out

Risks and Opportunities of Social Media

Class: Journalism 202: Mass Communication Practices

Goals: Write, record and edit story with the communication values of impact, conflict, proximity, and human interest

Struggles: I had to conduct an interview over Zoom, so the audio was not great

Successes: Sought out a professional that provided credible information to make the story stronger

Takeaway: Sometimes you have to make the most of the circumstances you're given

Covid's Influence on the Decrease in Use of Third Spaces

Goals: Incorporate natural sound throughout the recording to enhance the story 

Struggles: The room I recorded the interview in was very large and echoey

Successes: I was able to get and incorporate some really strong quotes into the story 

Takeaway: Active listening is important when doing an interview, but must be completed silently when recording
